can you play movies from icloud drive?

Id like to store mkv or mp4 files on the icloud drive. I was wondering if you can play directly from the icloud drive, technically not needing to download the file to your desktop/downloads folder, instead streaming the video file from the source in icloud drive?

Wouldn't say that at all. It's a bunch of unique services.

iCloud Drive is best for document files types.

iCloud Photos is best for photos and videos. Even then, using iCloud for streaming makes it something it's not designed to be. When optimized, it downloads to your device, plays, and then uploads again.

It is a convenience. To have access to your photo and video content from any device. Just doesn't stream.
