Word processing software

Realizing this demonstrates my ignorance I will nevertheless ask the question. Does Apple have its own version of what Microsoft Office has created (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher)? Isn't Microsoft Office designed for a Windows/PC platform? Just wondering if Apple has its own software. For example, Microsoft Publisher does not work on an Apple device. I understand that Apples "Pages" is the equivalent. So does Apple have its own version of Word and Excel?

Versions of Microsoft Office are available for both platforms, but the Mac OS X version doesn't include all of the applications. Other options include Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and LibreOffice.
