Homepod and stereo

If I would get an Amazon Echo dot with it's 3.5 minjack out, I could connect that minijack to the aux input of my 20 yr old Yamaha stereo receiver with it's Paradigm speakers (passive) and subwoofer system. That way I could control the music by asking Alexa to play (via Spotify or, I understand, recently also Apple Music) whatever genre I'm in the mood for without searching on my iPhone or MacBook Air. I have a 2nd gen Airport n type express (updated with software 7.8.1), that I have connected currently to that input, and use AirPlay2 on my iPhone to forward it. My question is: If I get a HomePod, and ask Siri on that HomePod to play something from my Apple Music subscription, could that Homepod also Airplay that music to my stereo system via Homekit, using the Airport Express, and if possible, without a time delay from the HomePod.

Update: I bought a HomePod, and as I write it is sending Apple Music audio to my software updated 2nd generation Airport Express-n, connected to my stereo system with high end speakers in the next room, completely sync'd, no delay!
