iPhon8 How to make AUX input to car sound system in 2019

How do I connect my iPhon8 iOS 13.1 to car sound system Via AUX input ?

The Belkin Lightning Audio + charge Rockstar Model F8J198wht - RM2 I purchased does not work for that purpose and is incompatible with car audio AUX input per Belkin Support< Contrary to the information on the Belkin web page for that product.

Adventures in car audio via the AUX

port.

Following a recommendation from the

Apple iPhone users group, I ordered an Apple MFI Certified Lightning

to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, Charger by Gedun.

When the adapter arrived, I plugged it

into my iPhone 8+ . Then I connected a charger cable to the charger

side of the "Y" and earphone to the other "Y".

It played music with no issues.

So then I went outside to my car and

connected the adapter as follows: USB car charger adapter to power

side of the "Y", and 3.5 mm audio patch cable to second "Y"

of adapter , then plugged the audio patch cable into the AUX Input of

car audio system. Then I attached a Lightning extension cable to

the Male Lightning connector on the top of the "Y" adapter,

threaded it out of my dash to the iPhone 8+ in it's dash holder.

Finally I started my car, selected AUX

on my car stereo, started my iPhone music app and selected a music

track. The music played through the car system while my iPhone 8 was

charging.

This set up works nicely. I have

two cables that are visible inside of the car, one for my iPhone in

the dash holder and one power cable plugged into the second USB port

on the charger. My wife uses this to charge her iPhone as needed. I

can not speak to the longevity of this product, but it looks well

made.

Hope this helps you,

Tried the headphone adapter?

That’s an Apple analog stereo output that connects to Lightning, and the analog stereo can be fed into most analog stereo inputs. The Apple Lightning 3.5mm adapter won’t charge the iPhone, but it does work fine.

You’ll need a cable with a 3.5mm stereo connection on one end, and the appropriate connection for your stereo on the other.

Monoprice has all sorts of cables and adapters, if you can’t find the parts elsewhere.

I’ve used this to connect to various stereo systems, including via the “PC” 3.5mm stereo audio input socket on some.

I was not clear in my original post.

Using my iPhone 8 and the lightning to AUX cable I can play music through my car stereo.

The issue is I want to be able to charge the iPhone wile playing music via the car stereo AUX input. For that I was trying to use the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar F8J198WHT-RM2 adapter.

If I plug the adapter into the iPhone 8 and plug a power cable in on one port and earbuds on the other I can charge the iPhone and play music. However if I unplug the earbuds and plug in the lightning to AUX cable into the car's AUX port I can't

play any music through the car. Not a sound.

I know the AUX cable and AUX input are good as I can play music directly from the iPhone through the AUX Port in the car.

It does not work if I go through the Belkin Rockstar.

Belkin support said the adapter was made to provide power to the iPhone and play music through headphones.

He said that any other use was not supported and would not work. Altho if you look at the Belkin webpage for the adapter you will see a picture showing that use.

Does anyone have a work around for this use ?

Work arounds...

This might mean an amp for the stereo output, but I’ve not needed that with the Apple adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Adapter-Earphone-Splitter-Charger/dp/B07RYT9RPC/

Or a “Cassette Player Adapters“, if this stereo has one of those.

Or an add-on Bluetooth to 3.5mm stereo audio...

or the Apple 3.5mm Lightning adapter...
