Iphone 11 Pro Extreme lens flare

Hi,

I took some low light footage on my iPhone 11 pro and it turns out useless because of how much lens flare is visible. It doesn't happen on other phones or digital cameras. The footage looks really bad. Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kCu9v7_AGE

I am getting a new phone sent to me and will have to mail this one back. Hopefully the problem will be fixed with a new phone. They wanted me to do all sorts of troubleshooting over the phone. Try it in different apps. I told them this happens in video and on photo images. Then they wanted me to take it into the Apple store and I refused that. I don’t have the time to sit there and then determine I need a new phone or camera. So I requested a new phone be sent. That way I can upload my phone here at home not in the store. The issue with doing this is that they put the charge on your CC until they receive your old phone. It’s a “hold” on the CC. So that’s how my lens flare issue is being resolved ... I’ll let you know if that fixes the issue.

Well that’s not true at all. It appears in my photos when there’s any sort of light source in front of the camera. Light from a window. Light from a bulb in a fixture. It doesn’t even have to be direct exposure to light. It can be indirect and the flare is there. And in my case, it’s pretty bad. Very large. I haven’t even tried it with “strobing/carnival lights”. It happens with normal daylight coming through a window.

Have the same issue on my iPhone 11. Contacted support thru the Apple Support app. Show the support this thread and they say they are aware of this issue. Booked an appointment at my local authorized service centre to check it out this coming Saturday, hope they can replace the camera/unit and the problem can be solved. Really liking this phone right now, except the annoyingly obvious camera flare.

I called into store yesterday with this problem - they have replaced the phone however I am still having the same issue with the lens flare making it impossible to take any photographs in well lit scenarios - this is not a software issue as I'm on the most up to date version of the software - not sure if it's worth going back to store again and trying yet another phone?

At a bit of a loss as the reason I bought the 11ProMax was specifically for the camera quality.

Really disappointing.

It's the new deep fusion feature XD Joke, unfortunately this Ios 13 is full of problems, less than Catalina, but they are there. I, for example, have a bug that was already present in Ios 12 or that to enable explicit content in Apple Music, you need to launch podcasts first and disable podcast restrictions. Unbelievable how the software made in Cupertino got worse

Just show them samples of the flare and then refer to examples of images in this discussion where it is clear that there is a problem with the lens. Like I said before, my impression was that there must have been a batch of the lenses get through without an anti glare coating. My rear camera unit was replaced and the problem is now solved. In addition, the new camera lenses seem like they want to be wiped off frequently.

I'm not sure why this is not coming up on the sites like Engadget. My impression is that there are millions of phones with faulty cameras. I think the anti glare coating that professional lenses use to prevent this problem was either not applied or applied wrong. If the phone is replaced and the camera element has a camera from the bad batch it will not solve the problem. Only replacing the camera will

The moderator deleted the link to my video https://youtu.be/MafgdNjgCcU in another thread.  I can understand that Apple do not want

people to see such a bad problem in iPhone 11 pro.  I love Apple products and owned almost every

versions of iPhone.  I really hope that

Apple would acknowledge the problem.  I

am sure they can come up with a fix in the next iPhone design.
