Not able to connect iPhone 11 Pro to Mazda CX5

Help! I can’t get my phone to pair to my car. Did the IOS 13.1 update and it did not help. My phone comes up as an option to connect but will not connect.

Hello kma147,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to use your iPhone with your car stereo as expected. To help with this, please follow the relevant steps in this Apple resource, including installing any available updates for your car stereo:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car

Cheers!

I could not connect IPhone 11 to 2017 Mazda 6...I FINALLY DID! 1) I unpaired old IPhone devices that appeared on Mazda console/screen. 2) turn off car in order to restart your Mazda’s screen. 3) turn off Bluetooth on iPhone. 4) Scroll (On Mazda screen) over to Entertainment>Audio sources>Bluetooth>Connect>Add New Device device>. 5) When Mazda’s system starts searching for device TURN you Bluetooth back on your iPhone...wait for system to issue pairing number, then verify the pairing number and voila! If this steps don’t work I would repeat them. I hope this works. Good Luck!

Today I spoke with a technical specialist at Apple who confirmed that this is an issue being faced by many customers who have different cars and different iPhones, but all with the latest operating system. IT specialists are working at coming up with a bug fix. I already knew that but it was nice to finally hear it, rather than be told to restore my phone to factory settings or to contact my car’s manufacturer.

My iPhone 8 worked fine in my four year old Mazda but iPhone 11 max pro won’t connect properly. Can’t hear Siri and cuts out when navigator gives instructions. iPhone staff in Phillipines, India and Australia seem to know nothing about it, yet there was a bug fix download recently but it didn’t work for me. My phone has been set to factory settings three times. Taking car to Mazda next week but they don’t think issue is on their end. Some one please help.

What worked perfectly? What are you referring to? Took my car for service at Mazda yesterday. They confirm all software in car is up to date. They inform me they have no issue with Sumsang phones but are receiving increasing complaints about latest Apple software. To many permissions - Apple more restrictive than Samsung resulting in car makers unable to update software appropriately. Apple will need to make a software upgrade to fix this issue.
