Docking Station Issue

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to use TWO external Monitors with Macbook Pro 2018 and 2019 models. I have both 13" and 15" ; both having the same issue. Here is a run down.

Docking Station 1 - StarTech TB32 ---> I don't get any display. It's using DisplayPort to HDMI . Mac doesn't detect the docking station OR monitors. As per manual, I also checked for Thunderbolt driver for Mac but none found. As per website, this docking station should work with Macbooks but I am not having any luck.

Docking Station 2 - StarTech TB3DK2 ---> It only works with HDMI and VGA connections "INTERMITTENTLY". It's not reliable when I am connecting TWO monitors. It's works only with 1 monitor at a time and I have to un-plug / re-plug monitors to get it to work with BOTH monitors. Also it has Display Ports and it also doesn't work.

My question is, am I missing something ?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are having issues with using external displays with your MacBook Pro computers. I would first recommend troubleshoot one system at a time, to avoid confusion between what you have done with each system and what effects the changes have.

With that said, remove the docking station from the equation and connect the display to the MacBook Pro directly. If you have issues with the display at that point, take a look at the following support article for troubleshooting: Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac - Apple Support

Once you are able to use the display on your MacBook Pro, when it is connected directly, you can then add the docking station into the equation. If the docking station continues to be the common issue with it not working, then you may need to contact the developer of the docking station.

Thank you for your time and input. When I connect the monitors individually connect, they work perfectly, one at a time. Just those docking stations appears to have no response. As you suggested, I have opened a support ticket with the manufacturer and waiting for a response.
