Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

safari and gmail

After upgrading to Safari 13.0.1, my messages in Gmail only display the subject line when opening an email. The text and all other content is missing, or merely unable to be displayed. I don't use Apple's mail feature. This is when opening Gmail directly via Safari. Has anyone else encountered this, or can anyone kindly offer a solution? See screen shot below. Thanks!

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

Etrecheck – System Information

Eric - Thanks for your response. No, I'm not using anti-virus software, or a VPN. I created a 2nd admin account as per your suggestion and the issue was NOT present. In Safe Mode however, the issue remained within the original account, but was NOT present in the 2nd account, therefore I haven't run the Etresoft program sighting your comment, "If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally." The takeaway for now is that there is an issue with my settings somewhere within my original account, wether it be Safari, or General settings.

Eric - Here are the results: https://pastebin.com/UB1FCUrb

Doesn't really say much of anything to me, but then if I truly understood all this stuff, I wouldn't be soliciting help here in the community support pages. BTW - EtreCheck appears to be an interesting application, but my previous sentence rules it out as being useful to me.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Eric - While I'm generally hesitant about discarding files whose functions I don't entirely understand, I nevertheless took some of your advice - ran Etrecheck a 2nd time, scanned the security list and found only 1 possibility of malware (although I have my own personal doubts about that status) and deleted it. The remaining 'unsigned' apps I have been using for years and trust implicitly. They've never posed any problems for me. This all began yesterday with a suposedly 'simple' update to Safari 13.0.1. Anyway, I opened Gmail in Safari hoping for a possible resolution, but nothing. The problem still persists. Despite your willingness to help diagnose this issue, Eric, I'm simply going to put it to rest for now. It's not that important to me to open my Gmail in Safari while I have other browsers that I can employ. No point in wasting any more of your time, or mine. Perhaps one day a subsequent update will correct the issue, just as this last one created one. Many thanks for your interest and help! - Cheers!
