Apple Music Crashing on iPad After IOS 13 Update

I'm a wedding DJ, and I use a iPad Mini 4 as a backup in case something goes wrong.

I recently updated the software on my iPad to 13.1.2 , and since then Apple Music has been wildly inconsistent. About half the time it just freezes/crashes seconds after opening, and it rarely loads the playlists I've created. I can view all of my playlists when I hook it up to my MacBook, but on its own it struggles to populate the playlist fields when I disconnect it from the computer. I'm using about 10% of my total storage, and I only use this iPad for the Apple Music app. It works correctly about 5% of the time.

I've troubleshot like a madman (offload/delete/redownload/restore), and I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble with Apple Music? I create my playlists on my MacBook and I transfer them over to my iPad.

I recommend submitting a bug report at https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music.html to escalate this issue (and scheduling a support phone call). Apparently it's pretty widespread, but Apple is being pretty coy about acknowledging it.

Original Poster Update: As of 10/17/2019, this issue has not been resolved. To sum up all the recent replies, Apple is still not acknowledging the error, and simply asks the user to run through all the basic troubleshooting protocals.

In the interim, Apple released IOS 13.1.3, which DID NOT patch the error. My advice remains the same, submit a bug report at https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music.html to escalate this issue. Additionally, schedule a support phone call and (calmly) let them know that it's a software issue being experienced by multiple users and it needs to be escalated to a higher level of Tech Ops.

Sorry, folks - looks like we're not out of the woods yet.

I have had the same EXACT experience after updating iPad Mini4 to 13.1.2 and have tried all of the above as well (offloading, redownloading, forced shutdown, etc., deleting other media (although have plenty of storage)), but to no avail. It is rare since the upgrade that when I open Apple Music, all my playlists actually load. Even when they do, I cannot access (file there, but blank inside). Any other suggestions?

I am also affected: iOS 13.1.2 on an iPod touch 7 256gb.

I can choose a song to play, but when I am scrolling through the playlists the app freezes and after a few seconds the playing song also stops then. Restarting the iPod, restoring it or redownloading the songs did not help.

Everything works fine on an Touch 6 with iOS 12.4.2.

Are crash reports automatically send to Apple, if you choose to share them in the privacy settings?

Thank you for starting this thread. I’m having the same issues, tried all the same troubleshooting methods and still my music app freezes on my iPad mini 4. I was starting to think that my beloved mini was starting to die on me. I unlinked Apple Music from my music app (after restoring iPad), but the freezing/crashing continues. It’s definitely an issue between the music app and the new iOS 13.1.2 update. On another note, the music app on my iPhone X works perfectly fine, with all of my playlists loading and running smoothly, as well as my 2017 MacBook Air 13. I hope Apple does something about this... SOON!

I’m having the exact same issue. Its doing exactly what you described above for me. I’ve turned Apple Music off and back on, restarted, signed out of Apple ID and back in. I’ve reset settings, network settings and factory restored (as new and as a restore to see if different). The same thing always happens. It might work for 5-10 minutes after some of these steps but then it starts again. It’s annoying and disappointing that Apple would release this.

Same exact issue as explained in threads. I am a fitness instructor and use my years worth of created playlists everyday. I have tried everything that has been mentioned. I spent hours on this including a useless Apple chat for 1 1/2 hrs and a phone call with a “senior technician” for an additional hour. I was supposed to receive a call back today that never happened. I said this is a known issue with the 13.1.2 ios upgrade and they refuse to acknowledge. I am out of my mind over this.

This is one of the most annoying issues I’ve had from an Apple iOS update in awhile. I’ve contacted Apple several times and had callbacks scheduled and all I ever get is emails saying they tried to call— even though nobody ever called — so I’ll have to just call and wait on hold later. I’m disappointed that the new iOS/iPadOS has been out for awhile now and this bug is still happening.
