I Can’t Zoom In on my Drawings in Notes

Some of the new notes features are useful, but the ability to zoom in on a sketch for detail drawing was far more valuable to me, I would prefer to revert to the previous version. Please Apple, bring back the zoom!

I, too, was disappointed after I found out that zooming is no longer possible. Please use the feedback assistant and tell Apple that this functionality is missed. Also tell them to bring it back.

Same thing here. I just updated my iPad to ios 13 and, I can’t zoom in on sketches either.

I think the reason is because the “add sketch” option is no longer available.

Before, the update, there were 2 types of sketches in the notes app.

1. ”Inline Sketches” (which let you draw directly in a note—above or below text or stuff like that.)
2. ”Full Sketches” (which let you create a dedicated, non-inline sketch page whereby you could draw, AND ZOOM.)

...and the only way you could make a “full sketch” was by hitting the little plus icon, then selecting “add sketch.” It would then go full screen, and you could zoom in and out to your hearts content.

That little plus icon is no longer there.

...which is a bummer!

Anybody?...

I want to thank thedayismine for verbalizing very well the issue that many of us are facing. I use Notes for a lot of work with my contractors to communicate loose general ideas and sometimes detailed hand drawings. Most of the time “in-line sketches” are enough, but on occasion I need the “pinch and zoom” full sketches to hand draw a bit more detail, and with iOS 13 we lost this capability. I hope Apple is reading this and will re-instate this capability with the next iOS revision.

Well, you can zoom in Notes drawings - sort of. Don’t misunderstand me. It is difficult to use, and highly non-intuitive. Still, this technique may be of some use to folks. You need to turn on the Zoom feature in the Accessibility portion of Settings. In Notes, tapping with three fingers opens up a small zoom window that can be moved and drawn in. I haven’t figured out all the tricks in using Zoom, but it may come close to the old functionality. Just very cleverly hidden. Shades of the old Microsoft. I suppose all Rebel Alliances become New Empires eventually.

I was having the same problem with photos not zooming in notes. SO....... I went into FOLDERS, and copied my note with a photo to the Folder named "On My Iphone". The zoom worked!!! I kept playing around with it and some photos would zoom. Some would not. I'm only glad to hear I was not the only one with this zoom issue. I was worried it was my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple definiely needs a fix for this. I have many photos in notes to recall my garden planting each year.

I wondered if the problem was with notes in the Icloud folder. But here again. Some photos would zoom and some would not.

Today as I'm checking my notes. The zoom is working on all my photos in Notes. In all Folders in the Notes app. Hope this remains the case.

It gets worse. I’ve started using my older iPad Pro (original Apple Pencil), luckily still on iOS12, and have given my new Pro plus pencil to the grandkids to play with. No use to me without zoom in notes. Problem is that Apple have helpfully “upgraded” my old notes so that they can no longer be edited in iOS12 version.

Disgraceful. Will look out for iOS14 or next iPad release in the hope that the “sketch” code is reintroduced, or perhaps released as a standalone app.

Hey, do you know if apple is going to fix the zoom in problem with notes? My sketches are totally unuseful now. Also there is a big issue with the eraser. It just erase the whole curve you drow.

I have the same problem, now the notes app lost its function, and doesn’t worth it to use it. Please apple take a care with your users. :(

I agree. I have years of notes that are now useless. This MUST be fixed!

Am I wrong, or does Apple NOT ALLOW one to zoom into Notes app on iPhone to create DETAIL within a larger drawing document? I think this feature is important.

I have the exact same situation... and when you convert to drawings it is worthless because you can not zone in to see the detail!!! Very mad about this!!!

That’s a workaround, I’m still so mad right now!! But.. anyway, I’m trying to do dimensioned drawings here, with the ruler
