This morning I noticed that I had a lot of emails from iTunes - some low life hacked into my account and charged over $1200!!! First, wouldn't Apple have some sort of red flag on this kind of amount? Second, why the ** can't I call someone with iTunes to get this resolved??? My bank has already cancelled my debit card and reissued a new one - what a PIA!!!!!! Apple's service is non-existent.

The iTunes Store has no telephone support. You can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their
Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find an "Email Us" button) and explain your situation to them. But I suspect they'll just tell you to work through your bank (which is really the route for recourse for any credit/debit card fraud for any merchant).

By the way, I now remove my purchasing account information after every purchase. Its the only way to be sure.
Omigosh I have had the exact same experience, changed my password, changed my credit card to an itunes card and the hacker is back into my account??? I would like to close this account and cannot even contact someone to speak to in person.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. Have you continued on with your side of the situation?

I am in the same boat. Just signed on to see that someone has been making charges to my account and my paypal account has been debited for them. This is crazy that there is no phone number for itunes. There has to be an easier way to get in contact with them and to be able to get our money back when something like this happens.
It looks like this has happened a lot just over the last couple of days. I got hit for over $1000 two days ago. Does anyone know how this usually ends? It's nice to say you can dispute it through the bank, but that doesn't mean it will end in your favor. Does anyone know if the person who gets robbed gets any kind of refund or vindication?
I got ahold of paypal and they immediatly refunded my money. But i also had money in my itunes account from gift cards. I got an email from itunes basically saying they are going to suspend my account until this is straightened out so no one else can make any charges. They also told me to contact my credit card and dispute the charges which is what i did through paypal. I was also pretty much told the money that was in my itunes account will not be refunded. Thats bull. It wasnt that much but its the principal of it. The gift cards were my sons that they got for their birthdays and now it is just gone. It also still shows i have an outstanding balance. Why wont they do something about that? I really wish they would make it so we could talk to someone and not get canned responses.
This happened to me last month. Thankfully, I only got hit for $350 (in 8 separate transactions of $40-$50). I learned the hard way not to have a debit card as my form of payment for iTunes. If I hadn't happened to check my account online when I did, I probably would have been bouncing checks pretty soon. I called my bank as soon as I saw the charges. While I was on the phone with them, I checked my Hotmail and saw all of the receipts. It was then that I knew my iTunes account had been hacked, rather than my debit card info stolen. I changed my password.
In the 3-5 minutes between getting my card canceled and changing the password another item was purchased. I was informed by Apple that it was just not possible for this fraudulent charge to simply be removed. I would need to pay for the purchase and ask for a refund in order to be able to use my iTunes account again. Luckily it was only $5.81(I read accounts online of people who hundreds of dollars of charges they had to pay in order to clear their account). I have not checked my statement yet to see if I got the refund. I guess I should do that. I still have not gone through the steps to reactivate my iTunes account. I'm still quite disenchanted with the way Apple has its head in the sand about this rampant fraud. I wish they would just acknowledge that there is a problem. I disputed the other $350 of charges with my bank and got all that put back in my account.
Google iTunes fraud and you will see this happens A LOT. There was a good article on Appleinsider.com a couple weeks ago about fraud issues with iTunes. After doing a little research in this area, I was really shocked by how widespread it is. I was also shocked to learn that if hackers use your iTunes gift cards balance, you're just out of luck. I will never buy another iTunes gift card. After reading some of the horror stories I feel really fortunate that my user id, password, email, and country of origin weren't changed on my account.
I really think my problem was related to an app because my phone was acting really weird right before my account was hacked. It asked for my iTunes password constantly. Someone on another thread said they were having the same problem with their phone before their account was hacked.
One other thing you should do is check to see how many computers are authorized on your account now. I had 5 authorized on mine when I checked. I de-authorized them all.

hey everyone. I had $4800 unauthorized charged to my paypal account recently. I think they had reached the $5000 monthly maximum that is set-up. Paypal is great. Just opened a dispute for each transaction (they were a bunch of $159 charges) and Paypal is reversing the charges. I didnt even contact Apple.
I immediately changed my Itunes password, also my Paypal password. Paypal suggested removing itunes as a Biller in my Profile settings.
not sure how this happened. but it definitely *****. I have never had any fraudulent charges, and I have paid for stuff online for ages. I just hope it never happens again.

Whoah - last night "someone" tried to put through just over $3000 in fraudulent charges to my account - $159.36 at a time. 19 transactions of exactly the same thing - the same app, at the same time, to the same seller - absolutely CRAZY that apple / itunes doesn't have some sort of transaction monitoring system to flag suspicious activity . I work in Anti Money Laundering and that is lesson ONE - get with it folks! Fortunately I was online and saw the Paypal e-mails come in, contacted them immediately and they flagged the transactions and stopped them from going through to my bank account. I have tried for the last 24 hours to find a way to get a live person at Apple - there doesn't seem to be a way. I sent an e-mail but no response. I'm considering getting a Google Droid phone and calling it a day with Apple. Are you listening now itunes support? Paypal was great, but only one PC was authorized with my itunes account - the charges are listed as "authorized within app" - are they not vetting the software they host? I'm afraid I've lost all faith in Apple after this incident.
My ITunes account was attacked in March from China. They bought about $250 in stuff but I caught it two days later viewing my charge account.
My credit card card issuer just sent me two replacement cards stating my account may have been compromised at "an undisclosed third party location". I can guess where.
You would think that Apple would have require extra authorization for purchases outside of the users home country.
