The aA icon is a new feature of iPadOS. Tap it - and you reveal a menu of Safari options, including font size, reader view and others.
And no - you can’t remove the icon.

It is what it states it is.
The smaller/larger A is to make text bigger or smaller by a percentage.

You can request the mobile view version of a Website instead of the default Desktop/full computer version of a Website.
The other is for Website/Web browser Settings.

There are no options to remove it in the version of Safari. If the aA symbol is an issue, you will need to use an alternate browser.

No, other browsers don't have it in that precise form. Google Chrome has a menu at the bottom right; Firefox has a menu to the right of the address bar.
Other browser are just that - they are other browsers with their own features. Different browsers may have an entirely different screen layout - and may might not have the same features or icons.

Like I stated, too, you cannot delete it!
It is part of the Safari Web browser/iPadOS UI.
If you do not like this feature you can post feedback to Apple below and/or start using another third party iOS Web browser.
There are lots of other third party Web browsers in the iOS App Store.
The only way to get Apple to, DIRECTLY, listen to you is to use their feedback portion of their website.

Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the proper and responsible Apple teams and personnel , but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.
