frequent dropped calls after 13.1.2 upgrade

I just updated my iPhone 11pro max to 13.1.2 and now my calls drop after about 30 seconds. How can I fix this?

Hello drdarren,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! I see you're having an issue with calls dropping and I'd like to help out with some troubleshooting steps.

Have you restarted your iPhone yet? It's a simple step, however, it can resolve unusual issues: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Sometimes after an iOS update your carrier will release an update to their settings. This article has the steps to check if there is an update available: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

This article has some great troubleshooting steps to follow for this issue: If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone

Hopefully these steps will resolve this issue, so you can make calls as expected.

Cheers!

Hi drdarren,

Thanks for replying and for providing the additional information.

After following the steps in the article we provided, and if your cellular provider isn't showing any issues for your location, the next step is to contact Apple Support to look further into why this is happening.

Let them know the troubleshooting steps you've done and also if you're able to use the cellular connection for other apps. For example, can you send SMS (green) messages successfully? Are you able to use Safari with cellular data?

For the voice dictation issue, test in another app, such as Notes and see if the same issue happens. Let them know the result of that test also.

Enjoy your day!

To follow up if anyone is still reading... I went to the apple store. They ran it through their diagnostic tools and determined that the circuitry for the microphones was dead. Both microphones. He gave me $200 on a new phone that I didn't really want. It was way out of the warranty period. My carrier probably wouldn't do that so I bit and bought a new 11 with a $200 discount. Clearly a problem with the 7 plus and they want to get them off the street.

ME TOO!! Just left AT&T with my iPhone11 Pro and they reset the Network Settings and gave me a brand new SIM card. Didn’t do anything. Still drops calls every time I get a notification of a text, email or another call, when I’m on another call. I have the most recent software update of 13.1.2 What is causing this? Is this a Apple software bug? Every call him on I can only talk for a couple of minutes until a notification comes through and knocked me off I have to call back three or four times and it’s driving me crazy. This is been going on for the last week. Any help or light on this subject would be appreciated!

I've been having the same issue and it's become a real problem.

I'm on an iPhone X max and ever since upgrading to the latest iOS, most every call drops a few seconds in. Occasionally it will last for maybe thirty seconds ... there's no real predictability.

I've contacted AT&T and they've assured me that it's not an issue on their end.

I'm actually abroad right now and able to manually switch local phone carriers, and calls drop on every network. To me that indicates that the problem is with the iOS update.

I'm hearing conflicting things as to whether 13.1.3 fixes the issue. Has anyone had any luck?

I'm running version 13.1.3 now on my iPhone XS and my problem with dropped calls has persisted across every single update. I have even been given a new SIM by by carrier and this had zero affect whatsoever - the very first call I received after putting the new SIM in dropped after about 10 seconds, which is exactly what it did before. I was on the verge of taking my phone in to be looked at, and probably having to pay for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong, when I decided to check online and see if anyone else had been experiencing the same thing, and thank goodness I did!

After having read a few articles now and trying ALL of the suggested fixes, I guess there is nothing to do but wait for a new update which will hopefully actually address the problem.

hi thanks for your response. I did restart my phone and no success. My calls are dropped as often as every 15-20 seconds. Sometimes they work for several minutes prior to being dropped . I will check to see if there are carrier updates. In addition, I can not use voice dictation when responding to an email. After the 3rd word, the cursor resets to the far left.

I read that the new update caused MORE people to have dropped calls, not fewer. I am dropping calls all the time, many times around the 2 minute mark. I also have a new problem with this update, also mentioned by another poster - when I am on the phone and a message comes in my call is dropped. I am in 3 and 4 bar areas and have never had anything like this, ever! The phone is not improving..... I will call Apple tomorrow. The last thing I want to do is stand in line at an Apple store to have them try the sim card thing...

OK I’ve had the same issue with my iPhone 11 Pro and it was driving me crazy. I restarted, updated carrier settings re-sync my Bluetooth with no luck. My calls would still drop every few minutes which makes this a terrible experience. The issue seems related to iOS 13.1.2. I however Did find a fix for the time being. If you go into settings, Cellular, click on data roaming and turn off LTE and I know this sounds crazy but if you do it when making calls it never drops at least for me. I’m hoping for an update soon in the meantime my iPhone has become super frustrating. I hope this helps have a great day.
