The play sound is missing in the find my app. I used to be able to do this in the find my phone app for family members when they miss placed their phone. We have location sharing and find my phone on. All that shows up in Find my is contact and directions.

It sounds like you're trying to play a sound to your devices, and I want to help.
It seems like the screen you're looking at is the People screen. Tap on Devices at the bottom, choose the device you would like to ring, and then you will have the Play Sound option.
