Legit or scam? Being contacted by suspicious “Apple Support”

I lost my iPhone XS about a mont ago. Yesterday I received an iMessage from “applecare.id@icloud.com” saying “Dear Customer Your lost iPhone has been found and will be sent to the AppIe Store closest to your city. For more information to remove your iPhone you can check the following link”

The link is: https://apple.com-map.my.id/findmy/?

The link also includes my Apple ID name which I removed in this post.

I clicked the link and it asked for my password to my Apple ID but I am not sure if I can trust the site so I did not enter it. Is this a scam so someone can hack my Apple ID?

I would like to pick up my lost iPhone if this is legit but I am worried about being hacked. Can anyone help?

Apple will always address you by your name or the name they have on file for you, not Dear Customer, Dear Client or by using your e-mail address.  The e-mail will be from @apple.com or @iTunes.com. E-mail addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail/View/Message/Show all Headers to see more. Apple e-mails will never contain an attachment. Apple will never request personal information by email such as Social Security numbers, your Mother’s maiden name or full credit card numbers .

The only exception to the above I have noticed is if you order something from the Apple Store (apple.com), your receipt will be addressed to Dear Apple Customer. That is a receipt for a purchase you initiated.

Most definitely NOT from Apple. Apple does not search for nor monitor peoples lost or stolen personal property. They do not even have any means or mechanism of accepting a lost or stolen device report. They basically do not get involved, at all, with anyone’s lost or stolen personal property. They are also not monitoring peoples iCloud accounts or tracking your devices for you.

And that URL is also very clearly not an Apple URL.
