in iTunes the last few seconds of many songs repeat after the song ends

Very strange happenings. On my iPhone X software version 12.3.1, the last few seconds of a bunch of songs repeat after the song ends.

I investigated to see if the same happens on my iMac with those tracks. Instead, the songs end and suddenly jump 5 or 6 seconds. So if a song file's length is 3:45 long, the song finishes at around 3:35, then jumps from 3:35 to 3:44 and then goes to the next song. Almost like that same repeat I hear on my iPhone is there but iTunes on iMac knows it's an error and skips over it. Can't explain it, and can't find consistency on which songs do it and which don't.

I don’t have a true solution but I have a workaround.

1. In iTunes right click each of the songs and chose FIND IN BROWSER.

2. Right click and open each song in QuickTime.

3. Go to EDIT> TRIM

4. Use the right locator to trim off the part of the song that repeats after the song ends

5. Click export as... and save as an audio only file

6. Import that file back into iTunes

it’s not as long a process as it sounds. Took me about 5 minutes to do it for all the songs having this issue. Not ideal but Apple doesn’t seem to acknowledge or provide a solution to this issue.

I got the same problem. In my case mostly albums are affected. And only these album where i changed the album artwork (artwork in better quality or without the explicit sticker)

I wonder if the artwork is the key. Because I’d also recently changed the artwork along with a few other settings under SONG INFO. No idea why that would be connected but maybe...

Hello. I have the same problem with just one album that I know. It happens in my iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, in my Mac it is OK.

I tried to delete the album form the iTunes library and from the device and add it again but that don't work.

Any idea who to fix this?

You can also move the file on a stick and remove it. After that the song will miss the original file, marked as an (!). If you klick on the file you can search on your computer after the file. If you drag it back on your computer and then select it via itunes the file should be the original length.

if not: do the same, but first link another song (or just a newly recorded memo) with the track and after that the original song you copied on to the stick.
