captive wifi login window does not appear on catalina

just upgraded to Catalina. The captive WiFi login window doesn’t pop up so I can sign in to my account. So the WiFi is connected, but I’m not connected to the net because I can’t login. It’s a public WiFi for the base, but we have paid accounts for data.

I’ve cycled the power, turned WiFi off and on several times, renewed the lease...nothing works. BTW, my iPadOS and iPhone still connect just fine (that’s what I’m using now).

This works, thanks. Do you know what setting that this changes?

The way the wifi works here I have to login several times a day, which means that I have to log out of my normal (admin) account, go over to the non-admin account, login to the data service, then go back to my admin account. Sad!

In any case, do you know how to report this for a permanent solution?

I wish I knew what setting it changed. FWIW, when I went back to the same network the following day, the standard account login workaround didn't work. Rather than create a new account (which I think would have worked), I booted in safe mode. After logging in in safe mode, I rebooted in regular mode. It worked for yesterday, anyway. I'll find out today if that permanently fixed the problem (doubt it), and if not, I'll try the safe mode workaround again.

As for reporting, macOS now has an app called "Feedback Assistant."
