Mac mail with Gmail was working fine yesterday before upgrading to Catalina. Any idea why - all of a sudden - Mail refuses to download my Gmail sent messages? iCloud Sent messages sync fine, but there are only a handful messages in there because I never send from iCloud. Rebuilding doesn't do anything. Just sticks at 1 of X number of emails and doesn't move. Retina Macbook Pro 15" Late 2013 2.3 GHz

Tried toggling the "show in IMAP" checkbox on and off, along with the "show/hide" toggle - is that what you meant? Did it a number of times and refreshed the page in between.
So far, nothing has changed, but I'll check back later to see if it was fixed. Fingers crossed.
I think this is an issue with how Gmail/GSuite communicate with Mail.app. When I use my iCloud account, the sent messages folder works fine. It’s just my GSuite account that exhibits this problem. I assume that eventually, Apple will figure out the tag that’s causing IMAP to break and the emails will appear in the sent messages folder again.
In the meantime, the temporary workaround I came up with was to create a smart mailbox consisting of emails sent from my address. It’s not a perfect fix — the preview pane shows my name on the top of every messages, so I can’t scroll through and see the message recipients. To find a message, I have to search for the recipient, and change the “from” to “to”. But for now, at least I have a folder with sent messages.
I’m going to post this same message on a couple of other threads. I’m not a dev, so I can’t submit a radar. I tried submitting a couple of emails through the beta program over the summer, but they obviously didn’t have any effect. Maybe if there are enough complaints, one of the websites that covers apple will write a post . . .
Finally a solution! Go to your gmail settings and start toggling the "sent" IMAP label on and off. That did it for me. I had to try probably 5-10 times though and hit refresh each time. When I checked back 30 mins later all the sent mails had synched and are now sitting in the sent folder on the mac mail again.
Unchecked/rechecked a few times with reloads in between. Reset my computer / mail. Nothing yet... I'll try a couple more times, disable/enable Gmail on Mail, disable/enable IMAP forwarding on server side, take accounts offline/online again... Then I'll give it the afternoon. Woof.
Please Note: Upgrading to Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.1 fixed the bug.
Yup! Thats exactly what I did (prob 10 times or so). Restart Mac/mail prob wont hurt as well.
Negative. No change on my end. Still zero messages in my Gmail Sent folder on Mac Mail. Sigh.
