Sidecar and secondary Apple ID

I use MacBook 2019 and my wife has ipad 2018 and i want to connect it to my mac sometimes via sidecar. Also, secondary iCloud account on ipad is mine, and i can see an iPad on my account as a device. Is it possible to connect it via sidecar on my mac?

I had the same problem with a MBP 2017 and a iPad 6th gen, even both Apple ID accounts are in "family sharing" didn't work.

Only started to work when in the iPad I sign out from my family member, and sign in with my account.

Whenever I want to use sidecar I have to configure again what I want to synchronise, which becomes very laborious.

This function should be added in the future, even in a situation where we are using a company iPad for example.

I figured out the solution. However you can't connect your iPad to the Macbook using different apple id's but you can if you use the same apple id's, yes? but the problem is you don't want to remove previous one and maybe you have some issue's with the syncing stuff that will happen and may make a mess out of everything. There is a way out there by which you can have multiple apple id's set on a single device and completely separated from each other. 1. Create a new user(Go to System Preferences, Then Go to Users & Groups, you will find the instruction there). Sign in as new user(log or sign out, click switch user and sign in as new user). Set the Apple ID of the iPad for the new user when asked(in this case Apple ID of your wife.). Now you can fruitfully connect your devices using Sidecar. Simple trick 🙃.

I'm running into the same issue. I need two Apple IDs. One for my work machine (company owned) and one for my personal devices (iPhone, iPad, watch, etc). My only option to use Sidecar is to sign out of my personal Apple ID on my iPad-- not worth it. I know this has to be a common issue. What about a creative agency that shares equipment?

I don't understand the need to be logged into the same Apple ID for this feature— especially with a hard-wire connection. Sidecar is worthless for me right now— A shame, considering the investment of a MacBook Pro and iPad Pro.

Yeah, that is correct. But my question was about the secondary Apple ID on iPad. So, My MacBook is signed with my ID and wifes iPad primary ID is hers, but i also added my Apple ID to the same iPad, so i can see him on my device list. Basicly iPad has my ID as secondary. And sidecar doesn't seem to recognise that, if it's even possible :) thx

p.s. USB no reaction also
