Grammarly Uninstalling Issues

I recently downloaded Grammarly in hope that I will be able to make my essays better, only to find out that it cannot be used on Google Docs yet. So now I want to uninstall it to make my storage space available for something useful. However, I ran into a problem: uninstalling required two steps that both have problems. If I wanted to uninstall it from the Safari extensions menu, it told me I need to get rid of it in Finder first.

Then, Finder wants me to get rid of Grammarly because the application is still in use!

What should I do if I want to remove Grammarly from my computer if I am running on Catalina 10.15?

Oops, never mind. I found out that there was a check box to turn Grammarly off first.

For anyone else who runs into this situation, this is how to get rid of Grammarly running on Safari running on Catalina 10.15.

  1. Turn off Grammarly. You can find this switch in Safari > Preferences > Extensions.
  2. Move Grammarly from the Finder into Trash
  3. Uninstall Grammarly from the Extensions menu.
