Hi, I am interested in trading in my old iPhone (XS Max) to the new 11 Pro. Phone was bought online from apple.com (US) store.
If I walk to any Apple Store in the US, can I immediately trade-in my old phone for a new one?
If yes
-> do I need any documents?
-> would I be allowed to perform the phone-to-phone migration in store before giving the old phone erased and back to factory settings?

Yes, you can trade and set up the new phone in-store. Apple will check the trade in to ensure it is eligible to be traded in and its condition to assign a trade value, but assuming you don't owe anything for the phone you want to trade and it is working condition, both transactions can be done at the same time.

But you need to make an appointment, just to be sure that the new model you want is available when you go there.
As far as "migration" is concerned, I don't have a proper answer to offer you, but you can ask Apple Specialists when you make your reservation.
Migration could be a quite long procedure, depending on the quantity of data, photos, media, apps, documents, etc that are on your current device.
