purchased -free books
I want to delete some books permanently from my computer and instead they go to iCloud
You can't really delete purchased books, even if they were free. However, you can hide purchases, which will prevent them from showing up in the Books library, which I assume is what you want.
- Open Books app and go to the Book Store
- Open the Featured tab (from left sidebar if you are on 10.15, or from top if you are on 10.14).
- Under QUICK LINKS on the right side, click Purchased.
- Sign in if needed
- You should now be seeing all your purchased books, including free books. Hover over any book you want to get rid of and click on the 'X' that appears in the upper left corner of the book. That book is now hidden and shouldn't show up in your library anymore.
If you ever want to unhide books later, you can do that from the Account Information page, which you can access from the Store --> View My Apple ID app menu item. On that page, look for the "Manage" link in the Hidden Purchases section.
