I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro 15". The HDD recently failed and I received a warranty replacement. However, I sent the old one in with the caddy still attached, and am having a hard time finding a replacement caddy. Most of what I'm finding are 2.5 to 3.5 adapters or mounts to add a second HDD. I've been advised to just tape the new drive in place but would prefer to use the correct mount. Is there anyone who sells these?
I can't believe I'm the only person who sent their hard drive somewhere without removing the caddy. My local Apple store says they have them for $30. I guess it's either that or scotch tape.
It would help to know which country. In the USA I'd check macsales.com = OWC
Something like that isn't likely to fail as such so nobody will think of needing replacements. You may need to see if somebody on Craigslist or Ebay is parting out a Mac of that model.
That's why I advised you see if you can find a forum where people are parting out a similar computer. LowEndMac used to have one but the last time I looked I couldn't find it. Probably nobody stocks it because you stock things to make money and frankly it isn't a part that breaks or wears out.

I just checked Macsales. External drive holders only, no internal ones.
I couldn't find one on the site so I used the chat feature to talk to someone, and they confirmed that they don't sell them. If you can find a link to the product, I'd appreciate it.

I wish you had told us you knew of a place already. As I said, it is likely this is not such a frequent occurrence that most places would consider stocking such items. After all, they have to make money out of anything they stock. $30 may not sound cheap but if you have a source then I'd say go with it, since as you are finding, nobody else stocks them.
As it turns out, they are selling the part that attaches to the computer body, not the part that goes on the hard drive itself.
Is there some other way to keep the drive from rattling around? I don't know if it's a good idea to put a piece of foam rubber or cardboard in there. It's just hard to believe that nobody sells this part.
They definitely do internal drives and accessories too. You just need to explore a bit.
