Catalina mac mini 2012: black screen

Installed Catalina on my mac mini late 2012. Installation was done, system was running!

After switching off, I didn't get the system running again. Only the white LED is on and the fan is running.

Tried NVRAM and SMC reset. But I didn't hear a startup sound ever again.

The screen never comes back again. No startup manager or any other boot screen.

I have the original apple hdmi to dvi adapter.

Brought it to the local authorised apple reseller. Says defective LogicBoard have to be exchanged.

What does Catalina exactly change on the mainboard?

Is this a thermical damage from the installation routine?

Do I have bad luck?

Or is there a systematical failure?

Does apple feel responsible for such failures?

I have the same issue on a 2013 macbook pro. Machine won't start up after sleeping after the catalina update. Apple support are taking no responsibility and said its nothing to do with the update. I find this very hard to believe giving the amount of people with the same issue
