Dotted circle on songs or ringtones...

Honestly,

After ALL these years iTunes/iPhone users are STILL encountering the same bug (there is NO other name for this), which can only be fixed by backing up and setting up as new device the ENTIRE phone...

This workaround is like killing a mosquito with an A-bomb and I cannot believe no one has come up with a simpler and quicker solution to it (or why it even happens). So, firmly believing the real and straightforward solution is out there, I'll be waiting for it right here... :)

Thanks very much for your reply and support Turingtest2, very much appreciated.

That being said, the first link is the long-fix (or rather tinker) - I wish to avoid - to a bug whose longevity never ceases to amaze me.

The fix would be for Apple to introduce some sort of integrity checking to make sure that every track that was supposed to have been transferred actually has, and that the artwork cache is correctly populated. I can't see it happening. :(

You'll already know about this method for dealing with erratic syncing. I don't have a better approach. See Create and manage ringtones in iTunes - Apple Community for advice on tones.
