I ve just upgraded to Catalina macOS. Now I face the error "error while printing" only when I print page from Preview as pdf. Other programs work fine with priniing pdf. I can print to my printer from Preview normally, just the pdf is not working.

When you go to pdf, select the 127.0.0.1. Should be OK.

I have been facing this issue for quite some time.
I am on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.3. I guess, it all started with the ugpraded to this OS..
Any help in this regard is appreciated..

May have something to do with the printer showing in the top box. If I select the old HP 4050 I have, I get the error. If I select the EPSON 440, it works fine. Try selecting a different printer.

Just tried it on my end - 2 different ranges of pages with the document open and no issues.
Yes, it looks the same. The first document worked perfectly, but a second document didn't.
No, I have the same problem with several Brother printers. Really disappointed in Apple. Fix this ASAP. I miss Steve Jobs. He would have beheaded any programmer who let this happen.

Really weird, but this worked for me too.
I noticed the same. If I select an online printer it works, any offline does not. Odd, as I intend to save pdf not to print, but am doing this work around.
The workaround doesn't help me as I'm trying to use the printer dialog to only save as a PDF certain pages. It fails on all my printers, unfortunately, and I do not have an AirPrint printer.
