Discovered my copy of LibreOffice is prohibited from opening by Apple now. Been using this for years as it is much better than Apple's office software. Downloaded a new copy via Safari with no issues but it does not open no matter what.

I got confused as I missed the "click open" once the window opened up for me. I do remember having to do this once years ago but nothing lately. The app opened. I closed the app and voila, it opened again as usual.

Have Gatekeper turned off is no t recommended—this is part of the Macs anti-malware softwaRE.
Control click is not equal to the option or command key.
You will have to go back to Applications folder and again hold the control key>Open
you will get a new dialog box:

I just downloaded the current version available. I have Safari set to download everything.
I already did and the version number is 6.3.2.2

First of all, you don't dbl-click when you hold down the alt/option key. I don't think anyone said to do that.
You won't get that dialog if you download it from the original developer site at LibreOffice.
Nice try but I've already done that several times today already.
LibreOffice cannot be opened.
