What can I do with my 2011 Mac Mini?

I have a 2011 Mac Mini (OS 10.6.8, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD,1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo). I would like to use it as a media server (music and movies via iTunes). I am willing to upgrade its RAM and storage to help it do its job. But, I would do it on the cheap with no-name SSD & RAM because I don't want to spend more than it is worth. If it is worth it, I will upgrade the OS (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250733284). Would I need to get an external wifi card because of any limitations to its onboard wifi (I am about to dump my old Airport extreme/airport express setup for something more modern)?

First off, if your Mini has a "Intel Core Duo", it cannot be a 2011.

Based on the specs you have given it is a mid-2006 Mini which

was the last to use the Intel Core Duo. From 2007-2010, the Mini

used the Core2Duo, and from 2011 on, they used the "I-series"

CPUs.

Also, 2011 Minis shipped with OSX 10.7 Lion as its operating system

and can't run any earlier.

So, based on all that, one needs to question whether it is worth it

to put any money in a 12 year old computer.
