Apple Watch sudden battery drain?

Is there something strange happening with WatchOS today? I have a Series 2 Nike Edition running 5.3.2 and a Series 5 Nike Edition running 6.0.1. Both has normal "all day battery" life prior to today. However, today both have drained battery much quicker (the Series 2 drained almost completely in half a day, the Series 5 now down to 7% after 10 hours). What would cause this sudden battery drain? No change in usage.

This is a follow up to my previous posts. I found that my iPhone and Apple Watch were still draining faster than they should.

Reviewing the diagnostic logs from my iPhone and watch, I found TrustedPeersHelper still taking a lot of CPU on both devices. My mac has been fine, but something still wasn't right with my other devices.

So, this time I ran this terminal command from my mac: tpctl reset

I was then forced to login to iCloud on my mac and iPhone, but ever since my watch and iPhone are not running hot. Yesterday, I wore my watch from 7 am to midnight, and I still had 60% remaining on my watch, and 70% on my iPhone.

The "tpctl reset" resolved all of my battery issues!

If you don't have a mac, I'd recommend calling Apple or going to an Apple store. They must have a way to do the equivalent of "tpctl reset" on your behalf from their side. I hope this helps everyone.

To me, it doesn't seem normal at all. My AW 2, which I started using again, was switched off for about 20 days (the first days I was using AW 5 and noticing the problems) and when I switched it on again (the 2), it was at 98%. I'm afraid the battery of AW 5 is defective, that's why it is draining like crazy when on, and like crazy too even when off.

this is because of watchos updates. it updates w/o people knowing which is WRONG. how can they diagnose a change if ths change is NOT TRANSPARENT ⁉️

on series 5 os 6.1.3 you can watch the battery tick down %s in real time. takes only a few minutes to get to RED. during that time, the watch is FROZEN‼️ my watch is useless. apple sells trash.

OK, removed the info for the Trusted Peers Helper, two days ago. Now, Activity Monitor rarely even shows TPH and now my watch seems to be getting close to 20 hours on it before re-charging. All seems much better, including my iPhone Xs.

I did not run the tpctl reset as I don't seem to be needing it.

Only complaint is that in preferences, it tells me I need to re-enter my password for iCloud. No big deal as I can live with that minor problem.

Will keep you posted!

Same here. Series 4 on iOS 6.0.1. Normally only uses a quarter of the battery after 16-17 hours. Since yesterday, it almost drained completely after the same amount of time. Tried rebooting iPhone and watch in order from that other Apple support post, but still seems to be draining more quickly than normal. Next step for me is to restore and re-pair the watch.

and before the stock support warriors come in, no, I hadn’t installed any apps, third party or otherwise, or changed any complications, faces, etc., or done anything to the watch. And yes, the iPhone was already updated well before the drain.
