Green screen when playing video

When i play videos (or gifs) in Catalina, all i see in a green screen while the sound continues as normal. The preview/thumbnails look normal.

This is happening everywhere, including YouTube, Photos app, Twitter, etc. This issue appeared just today and i've been running Catalina for last 5 days. Obviously, they all play normally on my MBP/iPad/iPhone.

This is definitely the worst software release year Apple has ever had and the first time i regret installing a .0 release of any of the OSes in my 15yr as an Apple user.

Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it?

The issue was only in full screen, and if I moved the mouse it disappeared (moving the mouse gives an overlay of movie controls, similar to the overlay of a subtitle.

I have resolved the issue on my Mac mini.

I have reinstalled Catalina by restarting and pressing “command +r” or if it was “shift”+”command”+”r”, don’t really remember which one it was, but now everything works fine.

Recently I got the problem back, but very rare. For example if I used Youtube, some clips where green, and some without any issues.

My MacMini is connected to a Marantz AVR (NR1609) and then to my Samsung TV.

When I checked "colorsync" I have three profiles, (.icc files) (SD170xxx, Marantzxxx, Samsungxxx).

And yes, you are absolutely right, depending on which one I use I can recreate, or get rid of, the problem.

I'm having the same trouble. The green is showing up in nearly everything shown full screen (YouTube, streaming services, movies in my home library, etc.). It disappears as soon as the mouse is moved and the movie controllers appear. As soon as they auto-hide, it recommences. Attaching a screenshot for reference.

The ”Night shift” option is not available in this setup, for some reason. It is on my MacBook Pro, so I know where to look.

It is really odd, and the next thing I need to do is to hook up my MacBook, or try FireWire to hdmi on the Mac mini, only to once again isolate the issue to the Mac mini.

Every thing works fine, except some clips on YouTube. There are some cases when the picture has the green “overlay” depending on the resolution, and if I could try for example this very old clip, https://youtu.be/BQn1gJdVKi4 there is no way I have been able to run this, without getting the green overlay, as soon as the player controls goes away (only full screen).

Very annoying, but it is definitely not a showstopper, only very annoying, especially since it was not there before Catalina. Then I don’t know how to work with the ColorSync profiles. Any good reading suggestions, done a lot of googling, a link would be appreciated.
