Has anyone tried Quickbooks 2016 for Mac with Catalina?

Is Quickbooks for Mac 2016 compatible with Catalina? I was wondering if anyone tried it. I would rather not upgrade to Quickbooks 2019 or 2020 if 2016 Quickbooks works with Catalina. Thank you!

As a previous owner of the 2016 version, I've gotten at least four emails from Intuit over the past few months plainly stating it is not intended for use in Catalina.

That doesn't mean it won't run, but if you lose data by using the 2016 version in Catalina, you're on your own to recover it.

If you have QuickBooks 2019, it is supported in Catalina. As, of course, the new 2020 version is.

I also use QB 2016 on Catalina ... and so far I have had ZERO issues / I have received two emails recently telling me i need to upgrade to QB 2019/2020 so i just asked my accountant about this / and have offered to send them a backup ... if this goes well or he says it's ok, i am going to stay with QB v2016 for the time being

This QuickBooks support article may help: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/product-system-requirements/risk-of-data-file-corruption-and-data-loss-for-quickbooks/00/390504

It has more details and includes the following:

Data loss or crashes may occur while using an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac (2016 or earlier) on Apple’s new macOS Catalina or when not using the latest versions of supported QuickBooks Desktop for Mac products (2019 and 2020).

Thank you for your quick response. I know what Intuit has said about this issue. However, this company by making those statements has put itself in a position of selling more product by forcing everyone to upgrade. This company has a long history of making half truths in order to increase their revenue. They did the same thing last year with Mojave and some previous versions. They originally told me that in order for their software to run on Catalina I had to upgrade to Quickbooks online which is blatantly false. I want to know if anyone has actually tried to run Quickbooks 2016 on Catalina with success. Thank you.

When I saw the Quickbooks notice saying I had to upgrade I felt the same way you did. I run two different companies through the 2016 version. The good news is that 2016 is 64 bit so there is no worry of it being completely incompatible.

I backed up both my companies today and did the upgrade. I have not done much in terms of running reports or much else but I haven't had any problems in the few hours I've been using it. I even tested the export for accountant feature and didn't seem to run into any issues.

So far so good!

That was the answer I was hoping for. Thank you for your help I'm going to stay w 2016. Intuit seems more interested in selling more product than helping people with their accounting. Seemed strange the incapability w Catalina arose shortly after Intuit decided not to support 2016 anymore. I think they saw Catalina coming and decided to scare everyone into purchasing an update. They do this with Turbo Tax for business. They lead you to believe if you have a small business you need their business version because it has more forms when the Deluxe version has all the standard forms at a lessor price.
