How do I copy a playlist from my iPod to my Music library with Catalina?

Hi WPio,

Thanks for the post. As I understand it, you have a playlist on your iPod that you want to sync to your computer.

To clarify, are you using the Apple Music service? If so, check out this resource: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

If not, and if you're referring to a playlist you created directly on the iPod, you may need to connect your iPod to your computer and sync with the library, and then check your Playlists on the Mac: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer

Let me try and be more specific. I had ITunes installed on a Windows PC. It was synched to my iPod touch. Worked great for years. Easy. My PC died and I decided to switch to Mac. I bought a new IMac, running macOS Catalina. I had backups of my PC and uploaded my music to Apple Music (ITunes is no longer an option apparently). My music all appeared in Apple Music, but none of my playlists. They are still on my iPod, but when I try and such to Apple Music it asks if I want to erase all of the data on My iPod and then synch with Apple Music. I don't want to do that because my playlists will disappear. So, can I get my playlists onto Apple Music? Can I then synch my iPod with Apple Music? I have all of my PC data saved still on a portable hard drive if there are other files I need to bring over.

I wish Apple had left iTunes alone. The marketing gimmick to get everyone to subscribe to Apple Music is frustrating and of no interest to me. I want my music the way I've had it for years.

Hi WPio,

Thanks for replying with the details. If you still have the original library on an external drive, you may be able to use the steps here to move your entire library: Back up and restore your iTunes library on your PC. If the library was consolidated previously, you may just need the "Restore your library from a backup" steps.

Somewhat helpful, but the link is to restore it to ITunes, and there is no more ITunes in macOS Catalina. How do I get this to happen in Apple Music?

And my PC is dead, so all I have is the ITunes library on a hard drive.
