Attaching files in emails on ipad

Hi there

Can somebody please tell me how I attach a file into my email after I have written it because all day I have been writing emails but then remembered I need to attach the file first by sending it over from pages or numbers. Is there any way I can attach this to an email after I have written it?

Thanks

Ash

I found a way...create your e-mail then close your e-mail client. The draft will stay there. Open the document you want to attach and click the upper right menu to send as an e-mail. It will open a new e-mail with the file attachment. Hold down on the attachment momentarily and let go. Select all. select copy. CLOSE this draft. Return to your original e-mail and touch somewhere in the text area. Select copy. Your doc is now attached. You can attach multiple documents using the same method. Who's the man???LOL

I am thinking groups may only be useful if you want to send an email to a group of contacts 😉

But but I will need to add contacts to different groups and maintain the groups. I don't send emails to large number of contacts, so I'd prefer to type a few letters, search for matching contacts and then add each of the contacts into the address line of my emails.

I want item 5 too 😁 (to show an optional date along with the time on the first row on the iPad screen)

Regarding the long list Apps in App Store, try Search if you know the name of the App you are looking for. There is a Search box on the top-right corner of App Store.

I didn't check the date when you posted your post, but I hope this will hope anyone has the same question next time ℹ

I fully agree with you. I have a 64 Gb 3G iPad 2 (the best one, at least in Italy) and I am frustrated as well by all the issues that you pointed out. In addition to that, I was stunned by the fact that, apart from the screen size, I can actually do more things with my Galaxy 2 (Android) than with an 800 € (!!!!!!) larger device.

Another frustrating issue is the lack of a real usb/wireless file transfer: I either need iTunes (but I'm running my PCs on Linux) or a network, and in any case it's awkward. Any other device in the world can be plugged in as a USB drive, but not the iPad. Lack of flash support is frustrating as well, since many videos are not yet HTML5 compatible, and the other browsers are either buggy or not smooth (2 frames/sec)

Not to mention the fact that the iOS version of many applications (e.g. Outliner or remote controls), if at all available, lack in functionality when compared to their Android counterparts.

Finally, the apps in the appstore are on average twice as expensive as the ones in the android marked.

I have already decided to sell the beast in favour of an eee transformer: it will be less stylish, but when used on the field for real problems will top the bill.

Concerning the subject of the post, I have often the need to send, in one email, different files, for example a spreadsheet and and a word doc, or a photo and an office doc... It should be done from within the email app, because otherwise I am forced to send separate emails, one per each attachment, which is cumbersome and prone to errors (one email can make it thru and another be put into the spam folder and not be noticed by the recipients).

That's why I landed here in the first place: I thought I missed some shortcut, but to my disbelief looks like it's actually not possible select attachements from within the email app.

I'll update to iOS 5 as soon as it's available, but from what I've read so far about it, things are not going to change a lot. What a pity.

"There's an app for that" - is not an acceptable answer. The thing I keep getting from apple is that there is an "app for that" or that the iPad wasn't "intended for that use (ERGO) you need to buy an APPLE computer" AS IF!

If the iPad was only intending to be a mobile web browser -fail

Half the Internet is unviewable because the browser won't run not JUST; flash, but jQuery and a pleathora of other application languages on the internet, I can't view movies or do anything that interacts with the web, like say check my email in the browser, enter my time in a timesheet, or say DO ANYTHING I normally do on the web!!!

The native browser won't let you attach a document - fail

So far the iPad has only suceeded in turning seemingly simple tasks into hugely complicated scenarios that require whole apps to be built for seemingly simple everyday tasks. Is it really that hard to give us the minimum?

The only thing apple has succeeded at - is making me hate them - and making me not trust that their full operating system isn't built with all these gotcha' gimmicks in it! I feel like I'm an idiot for spending my money on this brick (the iPad) and its my first experience owning an apple product and I won't be ripped off again. I'll use this thing until I feel I got my money's worth and pitch this thing in the nearest landfill and never buy another product from apple again. When asked if I like my iPad I tell everyone no, and how much I hate it, and how dumb I feel for buying it.

There's an app for that! Does it mimic apple ripping off the American consumer? I was totally misled into believing this thing would do more than an average iPhone but that's all it is, a giant iPhone - if you pay extra for the 3G! Holy cow don't get me started on that!

Apple has succeeded in turning me into a raving lunatic! I hate you apple! I feel ripped off and I won't ever buy another product! I won't risk being misled by your pretty marketing ever again. -fail fail fail

Hello, the answer that you recall is the same like I hear from people that was contacted the Apple support service. I have an iPad2, a Blackberry 9800 and a Galaxy Tab P1000 (the most basic of them) in Blackberry and the galaxy Tab you can attach multiple files and photos in a simple one email, plus both Blackberry and Galaxy have a native file directory system. The iPad don't. Tell me did you think that the Blackberry Torch 9800 and the Samsung Galaxy tab P1000 are computers ?

Hi,

I bought an iPad and sending e-mails with multiple attachments is very essential for me, but obviously you can't do it on iPad or any iOS device.

Butt!!! I found a solution. For example I have to send my cv and cover letter to many people and firstly I sent the mail with 2 attachments to my mail address from a computer ! Then I opened the mail on iPad. Now I just forward the email to different emails.

Great.
