Attaching files in emails on ipad

Hi there

Can somebody please tell me how I attach a file into my email after I have written it because all day I have been writing emails but then remembered I need to attach the file first by sending it over from pages or numbers. Is there any way I can attach this to an email after I have written it?

Thanks

Ash

Hello J,

iPad annoyances

1- once in application, you can not go the previous application unless pressing the home button.

2- In the Apps store, when browsing a list of apps and installed an app, going back to the apps list will reset the list to the start. It is particularly annoying when the list is long.

3- no email pop up message. You have to interrupt what you to go to the email app to check.

4- the keyboard has no directions keys e.g left, right, up and down. It is handy when correcting a word.

5- no date on the top ribbon with the time.

6- not able to browse the file system

7- not able to attach files from the email client when starting new mail

Solutions:

For item number:

1.- you do not need to press the home button to switch applications, just place 4 fingers on the screen and slide left or right, this will switch among opened apps

2.- try not installing the app from its description page, there is an install button on the list of main apps, I usually click on the app and read the description, then go back to the list of apps and install from there.

3.- you can set up your email alert under settings-notifications-mail-select a banner or an alert

4.- alternative to direction arrows is holding your finger on the screen, a magnification glass appears and then you can move along the text

6.- no date on the time bar, still ***** :(

7.- you can attach pictures to your email, just go to your pictures, open the picture you want to attach, select copy and then paste it into your email message, you can do this many times in the same email, use the 4 fingers switch to do it faster.

I hope it helps you, I love my iPad, this is my second one, it has a totally different interface than a windows or android device, but to me it's wonderful, the more you try and read about it the better and faster you will get to use it.

Kudos,

Sal

I am an IT systems administrator and I have to say that if I had not been given my iPad2 for free, through my job, I would have been rather upset and likely would have been cursing in this post. However, I think I might be able to shed some light and hopefully Apple will take seriously some of what is being written here.

The iPad is a superior tablet in one way and one way only: the hardware. Apple is extreme when it comes to hardware testing and software integration and they deserve kudos for that. The fact that there is also evidence to show that Steve Jobs may have done some testing with infants to figure out how to design the interface is disturbing. Because, let's face it, he believed we were all mindless can't-help-its crawling about the earth in search of one more device upon which to stream our Netflix and Hulu accounts.

Having said that, I believe that the entire intent of the iPad is as an entertainment device and little more. I have tested it along side many Android devices and where many of these come up short is the hardware. But there are some companies, like Acer, making decent hardware and coupled with the far superior operating system, Android, these tablets outstrip the iPad for business or production environments without any contest.

The Apple cult has kept the iPad flying high and the iPhone started that wave. Nevertheless, if you want a business tablet for half the price and 10 times the horsepower and functionality, let go of the pretty bitten apple logo and pick up and Android tablet. Out of the box plus some amazing free applications you can be up and running to a meeting with only your tablet in minutes...mind you, what I have found is that Android in not for the easily overwhelmed.

I am new to the IPhone and have an I Pad2 on the way. I have a love hate relationship with my 4S. I transitioned from a Blackberry in order to lighten my air travel load by being able to leave my I Pod at home along with my Kindle. The biggest problem is this attachement process. IT IS TOTALLY BACKWARDS for a business person. If Apple wants to put RIM out of its misery they need to fix the email apps basic funtions to better match Outlook and everyone else's way of doing attachements. Often I have to attach something after the email is writtten and this makes life difficult. I won't dabble in the battery life issue and the lack of a simple USB interface for charging or SD card slot for files. If someone actually knows of a real app that is stable and can do this like Outlook I would really appreciate a response. Whoever came up with doing things this way never worked in the real world. Apple are you listening? Maybe I should copy Scott Adams with this.......Even Dogbert could fix this.

1- once in application, you can not go the previous application unless pressing the home button.

You can by using either the multi touch feature by swiping four fingers right and/or left to go back and forth or by swiping upwards to get the backgrounded applications and choose on of them

3- no email pop up message. You have to interrupt what you to go to the email app to check.

you can setup your Notification Center to include it so it would be accessible from anywhere

4- the keyboard has no directions keys e.g left, right, up and down. It is handy when correcting a word.

a long press on the screen makes it possible to choose exactly where the cursor goes specially in long documents

6- not able to browse the file system

you can through third party application (one of them is iphonebrowser or iexplorer)

as to using the storage as an extenral, you can use some third party apps through itunes or use the above mentioned application

Folks,

Buy GoodReader app for 4.99, it has the ability to read most files, attach them to e-mail and also has connectivity to servers like DropBox. As an added bonus there is also a text editor which is much better than what apple provides with the iPad. Plus its easy to organize your files on your iPad. Its a must buy that will truly enhance your productivity on your iPad.

I don't know about files but with photos there is a MUCH SIMPLER way THAN just copy and paste.

You just open a new message or reply to an old one or what ever u would like... Then just tap/hold for 2 seconds and a small window option will pop up asking you wether u want to, as usual, "select", "select all", "paste", and added two more options "INSERT PHOTO OR VIDEO", "QUOTE LEVEL".

Tap on INSERT PHOTO OR VIDEO n will take u automatically to ur photo library where u can select as many photos as u wish at once... 😉

Cheers!

But how do I store a bunch of my Docs and Spreadsheets in a folder (and folder structure) and then attach a file - Are you really telling me that with an iPad 4 running iOS 7, I cannot reply to my client's email and attach a quote as an example ??? Seriously ? Surely this is wrong as a $200 laptop can do this - My Android Phone can do this - my Windows Phone can do this but Apple is incapable of composing a NEW Email and attaching a file from an INTERNAL (no I don't want to go to Dropbox - how do you that if you are out of the Wi-Fi Range or in a plane?) . ALL Android Tablets cna do it - ALL Windows Tablets can do this... and this is THE most important feature a Tablet could have - is respond to Email with a file attachment - and Apple cannot do this ??? Surely we are missing something. Pleaee don't give me any work arounds - and NO - I don't want to go to an APP to do that. I want to REPLY to correspondence and attach a file form a synched folder internally. And preferably on an SD Card so I can swap it. Am I wasting my time looking at the iPad 4 ?
