i am using iphone Xs Max with a 64GB. Memory was full. I switched the phone off. Switching it on again i noticed the Apple service was down; no display of contacts, sms, other services are also down. I have tried many times to sign into Apple but the phone keeps telling me that - Verification Failed - "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server". Meanwhile, my ID and password are correct. What should i do

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.
Try a restart.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Try a forced restart.
If necessary
Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.
Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup
