apple watch birthday calendar entries duplicated

Every time I add a new calendar account in my iPhone somehow the birthday calendar entries in the apple watch get duplicated (even triplicated, etc.). I have now ended up with 5 entries of the same birthdays (see screenshot). This duplication happens only on the apple watch, not on the iOS birthday calendar. There it shows OK, one entry per birthday.

I have tried to reset the calendar and contacts date on the phone but it does not help. I have also tried to disable my iCloud contact account, sync calendars to apple watch, and then sync again to iCloud, but no success. The only way I have managed to get it back is by unpairing the apple watch and paring it again as new.

This is not very effective way to correct this issue happening, for instance, if I enabled my work calendar and then disable it again. Do you have any different solution?

Thanks for trying those steps and getting back to us, ferrifer. It's appreciated. Since it's only showing duplicates on your Apple Watch, I have other steps for you to use.

Make sure that both your iPhone and Apple Watch are up to date:

If your iPhone and Apple Watch are up-to-date, turn both devices off, then restart the iPhone first:

If the issue persists, unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone, then set it up again:

Hi there, ferrifer.

I see that you're finding duplicated birthdays on the Calendar application on your Apple Watch when another calendar account on your iPhone. Good job on the troubleshooting you’ve tried, and I'm glad to help.

Set up multiple calendars on iPhone -- In the Calendar application, select "Calendars" at the bottom. Then scroll through the list to make sure only one Birthday calendar has been selected.
