SMS (non iPhone)

I used to be able to send and receive text from non iPhone users on my laptop in iMessage. I noticed a few months ago when I got a new MacBook Pro only my iMac was still receiving SMS. Is there something Im missing in the settings to change this where I can receive both iMessage and SMS?
