Change keyboard font on iPad (to upper case only)

Hi

I just replaced my mini 2 (iOS 7) with a mini 5 (iPadOS 13). I liked the iOS7 keyboard better (it only showed upper case letters, which makes it easier to see on what you're typing on. )

Is there a 3rd party keyboard that can replicate this feature?

Thanks!

There maybe third party software keyboards that may have larger letters on the keys for visually impaired users.

You would need to search in the iOS App Store app.

The keyboard behaviour will still be the same as this is has been the standard for quite some time and it will probably never go back to the old style/way/old school iOS software keyboard that Apple clung to for a few iterations of iOS for iPad, earlier on.

Sorry.

Things have continued to change and evolve in iOS and the virtual software keyboard is just one of the many things that has.

You are going to have deal with all the many changes in iPadOS ( iOS 13 , as well)!

You are 6 full iOS versions behind, now!

Best of Luck to You!

We are not mind readers, either!

The explanation you just gave me you had not explained in your initial post nor in your prior post replies.

And not updating her iPad Mini all along maybe was a mistake/disservice?

I am not judging here.

My mom is nearly 80, now, and has never been good with technology.

I got rid of her Mac ( she barely ever used it and would forget anything I woukd try to teach her ) and bought her the 1st iPad in 2010 and she has been able, mostly, to deal with iOS and the iPad pretty well and all of the iOS changes that have been made since she had that first iPad in 2010.

She has been using a first gen iPad Air ( 128 GBs model ) for the last 3-4 years, or so, and though has problems with touch ( she has a degenerative nerve/muscle disorder ) she does pretty well with iOS on the iPad, mostly, and has been doing okay with iOS 12.

She uses both a capacitive stylus and active, battery powered stylus for a touch interface and I just purchase a Bluetooth keyboard for her to use, ( her touch on the screen is pretty bad ), but I never see her use it.

The keyboard font changing from uppercase/lowercase/symbols/diacritics when setting the SHIFT/OPTION keys changed, I believe, in iOS 8 and this behaviour has not been changed since.

How is this a bad thing for you?

I hated that older, uppercase font ONLY keyboard style.

You never knew or had ANY indication of typing upper/lowercase letters when typing in password fields.

A lot has changed since iOS 7 ( IF you really had a iPad Mini 2, you could have upgraded that iPad to iOS 12.4.2 ).

You'll get used to the newer keyboard.

Some older users do not like the key flicks feature/action, but I got used to them, as well, as it makes the typing experience much faster NOT having to use the SHIFT/OPTION key all the time.

I use a third party keyboard that puts all of the commonly used symbols accessible using key flicks and I hardly ever need the use of tne SHIFT/OPTION keys.

This keyboard even uses proper quotation marks/symbols ( instead of the inch symbol ).

Edit: Dang it, wrong Apple ID!

Thanks @Tom Gewecke for trying to figure this out.

Here's how typing looks like

And here are the settings...

@MichelPM

I know this is an old OS, this is not for me but for my mom. I am fully aware this changed on iOS8, as it was one of the reasons I did not update this iPad. I on the other hand have no issues with it (using about every version of Mac OS starting from Finder 1.1g and every version of iOS since 3), but this should at least be in the Accessibility menu! Sure, most people like this change but most doesn't mean all. Some people don't like or don't want things that worked ok to change. Some people don't want to receive notifications all day. Some people don't use emojis. She had to upgrade as iOS7 Safari isn't that usable anymore.

She'll get used to it, eventually. Sure, but that should not be the case. That wasn't the kind of answer I'm looking for. If it's not possible then it's not possible. Understood, full stop.
