5G Network Disappears on MacBook Air

My 5G network disappeared on my MacBook Air, while my iPhone X and other devices find the 5G network without any issues. This happened after a software update. I have rebooted both the modem and router, checked configurations with my router, forgot the network and reconfigured it, etc. Nothing suggested online has worked. Can Apple please check the diagnostics and programming with the latest software update that doesn't show the 5G network?

Hey there Toish569,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues viewing your 5 GHz network from your MacBook Air. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Make sure you’re using the recommended settings for your wireless network as seen in this article:

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

If you still have issues seeing the network from your MacBook Air, go through the steps in these links:

If you can’t connect to a Wi-Fi network on Mac

Use Wireless Diagnostics on your Mac

Also, try restarting your Mac and seeing if you can connect from a new user account to isolate the issue:

How to turn your Mac on or off

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

If you still have issues, try connecting to another Wi-Fi network and see if that works.

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers.
