iMac screen locked, keyboard not working

My iMac’s screen is locked, so I need to type in a password, however my keyboard isn’t working, what can I do? I bought a new Magic keyboard but I can’t use that either because I have to log in to set it up.

I can help you a bit, Aksensei. Bluetooth *Magic* keyboards tend to be trouble and problematic when doing anything like basic troubleshooting or logging in. What you can do is find *buy* any USB keyboard. Any USB keyboard at all. Doesn't matter about the brand name or if says Mac or Windows on it. If you had one when you bought, say, your ps3, use that one. Try going down to Dollar General and look for a USB keyboard. It'll probably work if you plug it into your iMac. Anyways, you'll need a USB keyboard of some kind to do basic troubleshooting and login. I don't think there's a reset/re-pair button on the Magic keyboard itself, just an on/off switch. So about all you can do if it doesn't work for logging in, is to turn it off, take out the batteries if it needs 'em, if not just wait about 45 seconds, then switch it on and try again, making sure that it's close to your iMac. Not much help, huh ?
