How can I delete emails from both my iPhone and my mac at the same time?

I spend a bunch more time reading emails from my phone, than on my mac. When I do use my mac, I've got hundreds of emails that I have already deleted from my phone. Is there a way when I delete emails from my phone, they also are deleted from my mac?

Thanks for your help.

Yes.

There are two (main) types of mail accounts out there - POP and IMAP.

Most email services these days, like iCloud, support IMAP which supports what you are looking for - deleting an email in one place and have it deleted everywhere else.

POP accounts do not support this so you would need to delete the email on both devices.

You would need to contact your email provider and see if they support IMAP. It usually involves changing the configuration of your email account in whatever email client you are using but it is pretty easy. Sometimes the change can be done on the backend so you do not need to do anything.
