As this continues to interrupt my work, what can be done to eliminate this warning? The warning reads "“maftask” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash." I also get a "“spchlpr” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash." warning which does not go away. Suggestions?

Download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac.
I have this same issue but with “hlpradc” “mchplr” and “mafttask”
This solved the problem. Just an FYI, depending on programs loaded on your MAC you may receive other letter notices. These steps work for all of them.
I downloaded Catalina and now get a message that if I don't remove it my computer will be damaged.
Go Finder --> Macintos HD --> Search for *spchlpr*.plist and *maftask*.plist --> move the files to trask bin.
