Slow motion clips not showing up in imovie

Hello,

Today I imported all my photos and videos to 'photos' today and all went well. When I went to use the photos and videos in imovie, only some of them showed up on the side bar. When I scrutinized it, I realized that the slowmotion clips that show up in 'photos' don't show up in imovie. Not as regular speed videos, not with little turtle icons. not at all.

I am using imovie 10.1.12 and photos 4.0.

I have tried to restart the programs, remove all preferences in imovie so it has to rebuild its preferences and I have gone through all the permutations of options for what footage it shows from photos (ie. My Albums, Albums, Years, Collections, Moments, People, Places, Shared)

When these slo-mo clips are put into an album on the photos side, then I can see them on the iphotos side by browsing to that folder, so I know it's possible for imovie to use these clips and to know what to do with them.

Has anyone else noticed this? How do I fix this?

You are right. I have a slow motion clip in Photos app that shows up in the iMovie Photos/My Albums sidebar but not in Photos/All Years. Never noticed that before. I guess that's just the way it works. I don't see any way to change it.

You can import a slo mo clip directly into iMovie, and can drag it in from your desktop, and it will play in slow mo in a project.

Actually, you have been the first person that I am aware of who has posted about the slow motion issue. There certainly may have been others that I don't know about.

It's probably not a matter of fixing anything. It appears to be the way the system is designed. In the Photos app there is a system-created album titled Slo Mo listed under Media Types. All of your slow motion clips automatically get collected there. When in iMovie click on Photos in the side bar. Then click on Albums (not My Albums) and the Slo Mo album will appear among 4 or 5 others. You can access your slow motion clips there from the Slo Mo album.
