Why do my photos taken on iphone get distorted (apect ratio is changed) in icloud?

By any chance, are you using the Optimize Storage function? You can check under Settings > [name] > iCloud > Photos.

Also, are you referring to photos that you see in the Photos app, or when you use the iCloud website to view your photos?
