How keep links from activating in Notes under ipadOS 13.1.2 ?

On ipadOS 13.1.2 or iPad earlier or later on Notes whenever I’m near a link in a Note, when I go to edit, if anywhere close to the link (including an inch or more) a pop up comes up about the link then the iPad Mini 4 goes straight to the link in Safari. I can’t edit without setting off any link nearby, and can’t edit or delete the link. I tried to tap near the link but it doesn’t work especially with a short link. Under the old iOS a link wouldn’t activate unless the keyboard was in use, now it activates regardless. I do research and place it in Notes and the links are driving me crazy when try to edit

Apple seems to reinvent something that works, so it can create bugs and give the appearance of progress when the status quo was fine.
