Links functionality in Notes app for iOS 13.2.3, is there a way to revert to previous?

In the iOS 13 version of the Notes app, why has the clickable space around a link increased so dramatically? Trying to place the cursor anywhere within 3 lines of the link launches Safari, over and over again! It’s turning a simple edit into a highly frustrating exercise of having to close the launched browser tab and then switch apps. Sometimes this will happen more than once, no matter how careful I try to be about the tapping.

Or, say you tap and hold to drag the cursor to the desired point without setting off the hyperlink, second tapping to display options requires a surgical degree of precision just to not set it off.

I’m now forced to create an unsightly 2-3 blank line buffer just so I can edit/format the plain text around the links I paste into my notes.

Is there a trick to this I’m not getting?
