I have upgraded my 2018 mac mini to MacOS Catalina and now have pink boot screen every time the computer starts. The OS and all the applications appear to work ok after startup. I have tried the alt+command+R+P at boot to clear NVRAM which I found on an old forum post which worked on the next restart. But at the next cold boot I was back to the pink boot screen. Has anyone else come across this?
Same issue here - except the pink screen continues beyond the initial login.
Clearing the NVRAM (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204063) worked briefly - the login screen displayed in full colour, however once I entered my password and the desktop displayed, it reverted back to the pinkish/purple hue.
Booting in Safe Mode had no effect.
This is with a brand new Mac mini (unboxed this morning), which worked fine until the Catalina upgrade.
Switching monitors and cables (with another working High Sierra Mac mini) has no effect.
Will be downgrading next and let Catalina age on the shelf for six months...

Good news.
I replaced my top quality HDMI cable for a DisplayPort to USB-C cable compatible with Thunderbolt 3.
My screen is no longer pink/purple during boot.
Tested several times.
Happy to hear. Maybe you should open a ticket with BenQ about their HDMI not supporting the Catalina pink-boot feature...jk :)
I did the very same thing over the weekend and got the same result. Luckily the Mac mini is loaded with Thunderbolt ports :)

Updated to 10.15.1 - back to a pink screen all the time, not just the boot screen! (HDMI)
Tried a USBC to VGA adaptor and the monitor tells me there's no signal at all.
So what monitor is it, what’s the resolution etc.? Details, please.
Thanks hcsitas - Its a Hanns-G 28" 1080P monitor connected via HDMI, resolution is "Default for Display" which I' assume is 1920 x 1200.
Thanks again hcsitas, its definitely a Catalina issue, I clean installed Mojave again and my monitor is fine. Does that mean Mojave supports my HDMI version but Catalina doesn't? Seems odd...
