I lost some Terminal commands with new update

I recently updated my computer to the Catalina operating system. My computer returns the error message: emacs: command not found. I am using a bash shell. With the update, a folder popped up on my Desktop called "Relocated Items" that has "System" and "vm" folders. I am not sure how to proceed from here. I don't know what other commands are lost; I know vim works fine, so I'm in a weird spot.

emacs is licensed under the GPLv3, as is current versions of bash. That license is incompatible with any hardware manufacturer.

You can install emacs from something like HomeBrew, if you really need it. You could even install a current version of bash, though the old version is still there (GPLv2).

I prefer using a GUI text editor like BBEdit over all of the command line tools.

The relocated items are just that. Mostly, it comes from things that were stored at the root level of the startup drive. If there is nothing in the folder that you recognize as your own, you can just delete it. If you do have files there, move them to a better storage location.
