Two players in Arcade games

Hi, I would like to play in two player mode with my son without going online. Is that possible for a game like Sonic racing, or ShockRods? If yes, how do I set it up? I have two controllers

I have the same question and I can't get an answer from apple support. I think they know there is a problem and won't admit it.

The support document Use Game Center to play with friends - Apple Support refers to multiple players on different devices. I don't see anything that suggests two players can play on the same device but Apple TV can support multiple controllers, so it is potentially possible.
