Origin on macOS Catalina

Does anyone know what to do when getting the error message "'Origin' can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." Is there a way to override that? I have already contacted EA Support and tried everything. I cannot launch the app so I don't have access to any of my games.

Thanks for the tip! That probably would've worked too, but I finally dug up this message on an EA Forum that worked:

" Try to open Origin again, so you get the malicious software warning again. Then click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen and select System Preferences > Security and Privacy. Under the General tab, you should see a message about Origin being blocked. Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window, enter your password so you can make changes, and click the button to allow Origin anyway."

Have you tried; General/Security & Privacy/Allow downloads from Origin? I tried this which took care of the problem; however, once you download Origin into your Mac; you won't be able to launch/install the SimCity app.

This is a major glitch that the developers of the app Origin are working on. It might take them a couple of months to come up with a solution, since this involves heavy debugging. I purchased their complete edition of SimCity ($29.99) -- and I cannot play it. I decided to wait until the come up with a solution, a new release of a version that would fix the glitch. Meantime, I decided to keep my Complete Edition of SimCity virgin.

Hope this helps.
